Important changes to Personal Apps
All users of Personal Apps are now required to complete identity verification and enroll with two factor authentication.
All existing users with Personal Apps will have until 31 October 2023 to complete these steps. After this date, users who have not taken these steps will have their Personal Apps revoked. You can complete this process by visiting the Developers page of MyAkahu (https://my.akahu.io/developers).
If you are no longer using your Personal App and don’t want to complete these steps, no action is required. You can simply wait until 31 October and your Personal App will be automatically deleted.
Identity Verification
Akahu now requires Identity Verification for all Personal App users. This process is quick and simple to complete. All you need is a valid New Zealand passport or driver’s license. If you don’t have one of these, simply send us a message on Slack or via email and we’ll verify you using an alternate method.
Two Factor Authentication
All users with a Personal App are now required to enroll in Two Factor Authentication (2FA). You will be prompted to do this after completing the identity verification check described above.
To enable 2FA you will first need to have an authenticator app installed on your mobile device. If you don’t have one already, here are some popular options: Authy, 2FAS, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator.
Payment Limits
We are also introducing the following payment limits for all Personal Apps:
- Single payment limit of $5,000
- Daily payment limit of $10,000
As per usual, if you have any questions, you can find us on Slack or send us a message at [email protected].
👋 That’s all for now
